Friends of Lincoln Park
Mission
Friends of Lincoln Park High School provides school support and encouragement with the objective of enhancing the educational experience of all students.
Vision and Objectives
We are advocates for our students' education.
We are advocates for a positive learning environment.
We strongly encourage parental and guardian volunteerism.
We seek to work in partnership with the administration, faculty, and local school council.
We provide financial support to benefit all students of Lincoln Park High School.

2007 -2008 academic year total donations were over $27,000

FRIENDS OF LINCOLN PARK HIGH SCHOOL
2008 YEAR-END REPORT

Hosted a welcome breakfast for teachers during the first week of school.

Hosted the Annual Freshman Parent Meet and Greet party at the John Barleycorn Restaurant, also during the first week of school. About 50 parents attended along with the principal and her staff.

Increased the size of the Board of Directors to include a representative from each standing committee, thereby expanding parent participation on the board.

Hosted speaker Dr. Horace Hall to discuss adolescent issues with parents.

Raised nearly $28,000 for the Pride Fund and redistributed the money to the school’s academicdepartments in response to their Wish List requests.

Established a Leave a Legacy Program that will potentially net an additional $2,000 for the school.

Filed our first required IRS (990-EZ) and State charitable reports.

Hosted the Annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon during the April report card pick-up, providing lunch to over 120 teachers as well as the school’s security and administrative personnel.

Supported the Performing Arts Program’s fund raiser that was held in conjunction with the Grease production by sending out invitations and reminders, loaning our credit card machine, and participating in the event.

Supported the Lion Pac dinner/silent auction by advertising and participating in the event.

Met with the principal to work out improved procedures for informing parents of security alerts.

Continued our support for school security through the Parent Patrol.

Continued publication and expanded circulation of the Linc to provide parents and teachers a forum for obtaining information about LPHS activities.

Supported the Student Council fund raiser for the library by publicizing the event as well through board member participation.

Supported the first LPHS International Day by soliciting parent donations and making donations to the event.

Will co-host with the Department of Postsecondary Education and Student Development the first LPHS College Essay-Writing Seminar on May 29, 2008.
