History Fair - Feb. 7th

Dear LPHS Community Members,

Lincoln Park High School’s History Department is honored to once again participate in the Chicago Metro History Fair and we would greatly appreciate if you joined us for our History Fair Open House on Thursday, February 7 from 4:30 to 6:30pm.

History Fair captures the essence of what makes history the transformative and empowering experience that it ought to be for all students. History Fair is a project-based inquiry program that challenges students to become historians by actually “doing” history. Guided by our team of teachers, students chose their own topics connected to Illinois history and this year’s theme (Triumph and Tragedy), and then conducted research, analyzed sources, made an argument, and finally produced a project to showcase their work.

Our students made websites, performances, documentaries, papers, and exhibitions that are evaluated at annual competitions in the Chicago metro area. This rewarding program prepares our students for the rigors of higher education and empowers them to be active and engaged citizens.

In order to showcase our students’ inquiry-based projects, the History Department is pleased to invite you to our annual History Fair Open House on Thursday, February 7 from 4:15 to 6:15pm.

Once each project is judged, a number of them will be selected to represent LPHS at citywide, state and ultimately the national competitions.

Thank you for your commitment and support for the rigorous work that our students are engaged in at Lincoln Park. We look forward to your attendance at this exciting event where student work will be honored and celebrated.

With sincere appreciation,

The Lincoln Park High School History Department
