IB CP Program

Program Overview

Available to incoming grade 11 students, IB Career-Related Programme ("CP") in JROTC, Performance Music, and the Visual and Digital Arts is an innovative educational framework designed to prepare students for college and careers in the 21st century. CP students gain skills in applied knowledge, ethics, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement, while engaging in specialized training in a particular career. As the IB's fourth program, the CP provides a comprehensive framework that links the academic rigor of the Diploma Progamme and the international-mindedness of the IB classroom into a tailored, career-focused pathway that gives the students the confidence and skill to be successful in college and beyond.

Lincoln Park's CP emphasizes three areas the school excels in: JROTC (Army), Vocal and Instrumental Music, and the Visual Arts. Sophomores demonstrating both passion and ability in one of these three fields are invited to apply to join the CP.

In addition to classes and out of school experiences in the student's career pathway the CP consists of the Ethics and Professional Skills course, the Reflective Project, Service Learning, and Language Development, in addition to career-related studies in JROTC/ Performance Music/ and at least two Diploma Programme courses (IB SL English and IB SL Business Management). Most CP students take additional IB and AP classes.

Upon graduation CP students have matriculated to selective colleges and universities, in most cases continuing to pursue their chosen career.
