IB MYP(all Grades 9-10)

Program Overview

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Lincoln Park High School is an all-inclusive program for students in grades 9 and 10. The program provides a framework for learning in a way that is authentic and real-world relevant, engaging students through inquiry and other learner-centered approaches. All students in the MYP benefit from this educational framework that encourages students to become critical and reflective thinkers. Through the exploration of their MYP subjects, students develop their content knowledge as well as the attitudes and skills necessary for success in the 21st century.

Lincoln Park’s MYP offers courses in seven subject groups: Language and Literature (English I and II), Language Acquisition (Arabic, French, Mandarin and Spanish), Individuals and Societies (World Studies and US History), Sciences (Biology and Chemistry), Mathematics (various courses in Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry), Physical and Health Education (PE I and PE II), and Arts (various visual and performing arts electives). Teachers in these subject groups work to make curricular connections and this interdisciplinary learning supports students to understand knowledge from two or more subjects, in order to integrate their learning and create a new understanding.

After their 10th grade year, Lincoln Park MYP students may continue on to our IB Diploma Programme, move into our IB Career-Related Programme, or select courses from our IB Subject Course offerings to continue their IB experience in their 11th and 12th grade years.
